My watercolour experimentation piece is inspired by the artist Agnes Cecile and her use of non naturalistic colours within portraits. This is a piece of her work I really liked, The contrast of the midnight blues and the warmth of the facial tones creates a very striking image. The strands that cover the woman's face and the background, which I believe to be hair, create a very interesting texture to the image which is what I tried to achieve with the water texture flowing on the face of my portrait.

Agnes Cecile's piece |
This is my watercolour piece, it's A2 size and I used regular and ink based watercolours. I used the ink based ones to give the darker tones more pigment and the lighter ones more vibrancy. I am happy with this piece of work and am going to continue to try and develop my watercolour skills.

I took this photo of my sister to use as
a reference as I painted my portrait.
